Types of Data Collected

Among the Personal Data collected by Roinvent, either independently or through third parties, are: Cookies, Usage Data, email, first name, and last name.

Complete details on each type of data collected are provided in the relevant sections of this privacy policy or through specific informational texts displayed before data collection. Personal Data may be freely provided by the User or, in the case of Usage Data, collected automatically when using Roinvent. Unless otherwise specified, all Data requested by Roinvent is mandatory. If the User refuses to provide it, Roinvent may be unable to provide the Service. In cases where Roinvent specifically states that some Data is optional, Users are free not to provide such Data without any consequences on the availability or operation of the Service. Users who are uncertain about which Data is mandatory are encouraged to contact the Owner. Any use of Cookies – or other tracking tools – by Roinvent or by the third-party service providers used by Roinvent, unless otherwise stated, is intended to provide the Service requested by the User, in addition to the other purposes described in this document and in the Cookie Policy, if available.

The User assumes responsibility for the Personal Data of third parties obtained, published, or shared through Roinvent and guarantees that they have the right to communicate or disclose it, freeing the Owner from any liability towards third parties.

Methods and Place of Data Processing

Processing Methods

The Owner takes appropriate security measures to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or destruction of Personal Data. Processing is carried out using IT and/or telematic tools, with organizational methods and logic strictly related to the purposes indicated. In some cases, in addition to the Owner, other parties involved in Roinvent’s organization (administrative, sales, marketing, legal staff, system administrators) or external parties (such as third-party technical service providers, postal carriers, hosting providers, IT companies, communication agencies) may have access to the Data and may be appointed as Data Processors by the Owner, if necessary. The updated list of Data Processors may always be requested from the Owner.

Legal Basis for Processing

The Owner processes Personal Data relating to the User if one of the following conditions applies:

  • The User has given consent for one or more specific purposes; Note: In some jurisdictions, the Owner may be allowed to process Personal Data without the User’s consent or another legal basis specified below, until the User objects (“opt-out”) to such processing. However, this does not apply when the processing of Personal Data is regulated by European data protection legislation;
  • Processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with the User and/or pre-contractual measures;
  • Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the Owner is subject;
  • Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the Owner;
  • Processing is necessary for the purposes of the legitimate interests pursued by the Owner or by third parties.

It is always possible to request clarification from the Owner regarding the specific legal basis of each processing and in particular to determine whether the processing is based on law, required by a contract, or necessary to enter into a contract.

Location

Data is processed at the operational headquarters of the Owner and in any other place where the parties involved in the processing are located. For further information, contact the Owner. The User’s Personal Data may be transferred to a country different from the one in which the User is located. To obtain more information about the location of processing, the User may refer to the relevant section on Personal Data processing details.

The User has the right to obtain information regarding the legal basis for the transfer of Data outside the European Union or to an international organization governed by public international law or established by two or more countries, such as the UN, as well as the security measures taken by the Owner to protect the Data.

Retention Period

Data is processed and retained for the time required for the purposes for which it was collected.

Therefore:

  • Personal Data collected for purposes related to the performance of a contract between the Owner and the User will be retained until such contract has been fully executed.
  • Personal Data collected for purposes related to the Owner’s legitimate interests will be retained until such interest is satisfied. The User may obtain further information about the legitimate interest pursued by the Owner in the relevant sections of this document or by contacting the Owner.

When processing is based on the User’s consent, the Owner may retain Personal Data for a longer period until such consent is revoked. Additionally, the Owner may be required to retain Personal Data for a longer period in compliance with a legal obligation or by order of an authority.

At the end of the retention period, Personal Data will be deleted. Therefore, after this period, the right of access, deletion, rectification, and data portability can no longer be exercised.

Purposes of the Collected Data Processing

User Data is collected to allow the Owner to provide its Services, as well as for the following purposes: Statistics, Contacting the User, SPAM protection, Performance testing of content and features (A/B testing), and Displaying content from external platforms.

Details on the Processing of Personal Data

Personal Data is collected for the following purposes and using the following services:

    • Contacting the User Mailing list or newsletter (Roinvent) By registering for the mailing list or newsletter, the User’s email address is automatically added to a contact list that may receive email messages containing information, including commercial and promotional content, related to Roinvent. The User’s email address may also be added to this list as a result of registering on Roinvent or after making a purchase. Personal Data collected: email. Contact form (Roinvent) By filling in the contact form with their Data, the User authorizes its use to respond to information requests, quote requests, or any other type of request as indicated by the form’s header. Personal Data collected: first name, last name, email.
    • SPAM protection
This type of service analyzes the traffic of roinvent.it, potentially containing Users’ Personal Data, to filter out traffic, messages, and content recognized as SPAM. Google reCAPTCHA (Google Inc.) Google reCAPTCHA is a SPAM protection service provided by Google Inc. The use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google’s privacy policy and terms of service. Personal Data collected: Cookies and Usage Data. Place of processing: United States – Privacy Policy. Participant in the Privacy Shield. Akismet (Automattic Inc.) Akismet is a SPAM protection service provided by Automattic Inc.   • Analytics The services in this section enable the Data Controller to monitor and analyze web traffic and track User behavior. Google Analytics (Google Inc.) Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google uses the collected Personal Data to track and examine the use of Roinvent, compile reports, and share them with other Google services.
  • Google may use Personal Data to contextualize and personalize ads in its advertising network. Personal Data collected: Cookies and Usage Data. Place of processing: United States – Privacy Policy – Opt Out. Participant in the Privacy Shield.
  • Google Analytics with anonymized IP (Google Inc.) Google Analytics is a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google uses the collected Personal Data to track and examine the use of Roinvent, compile reports, and share them with other Google services.
  • Google may use Personal Data to contextualize and personalize ads in its advertising network.
  • This integration of Google Analytics anonymizes your IP address. Anonymization works by shortening the Users’ IP address within EU member states or other countries adhering to the European Economic Area agreement. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to Google servers and shortened in the United States. Personal Data collected: Cookies and Usage Data.   • Content and functionality performance testing (A/B testing) The services in this section allow the Data Controller to track and analyze User response, in terms of traffic and behavior, related to changes in the structure, text, or any other component of Roinvent.
  • Google Website Optimizer (Google Inc.) Google Website Optimizer is an A/B testing service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google may use Personal Data to contextualize and personalize ads in its advertising network. Personal Data collected: Cookies and Usage Data. Place of processing: United States – Privacy Policy. Participant in the Privacy Shield.
  • Displaying content from external platforms This type of service allows the display of content hosted on external platforms directly from the pages of Roinvent and enables interaction with it. Even if Users do not use the service, it may still collect traffic data related to the pages where it is installed.
  • Google Maps widget (Google Inc.) Google Maps is a map visualization service provided by Google Inc. that allows Roinvent to integrate such content into its pages. Personal Data collected: Cookies and Usage Data. Place of processing: United States – Privacy Policy. Participant in the Privacy Shield.
  • Google Fonts (Google Inc.) Google Fonts is a font visualization service provided by Google Inc. that allows Roinvent to integrate such content into its pages. Personal Data collected: Usage Data and various types of Data as specified in the service’s privacy policy. Place of processing: United States – Privacy Policy. Participant in the Privacy Shield.
  • Gravatar (Automattic Inc.) Gravatar is an image display service managed by Automattic Inc. that allows Roinvent to integrate such content within its pages. Please note that if Gravatar images are used for comment systems, the commenter’s email address (or parts of it) may be sent to Gravatar, even if they are not subscribed to this service. Personal Data collected: Usage Data and email. Place of processing: United States – Privacy Policy.
 

User Rights

Users may exercise certain rights regarding their Data processed by the Data Controller.

In particular, the User has the right to:

  • Withdraw consent at any time. The User can withdraw previously given consent for the processing of their Personal Data.
  • Object to data processing. The User can object to the processing of their Data when it occurs on a legal basis other than consent. Further details on the right to object are provided in the section below.
  • Access their Data. The User has the right to obtain information on the Data processed by the Data Controller, on certain aspects of processing, and to receive a copy of the processed Data.
  • Verify and request rectification. The User may verify the accuracy of their Data and request updates or corrections.
  • Obtain restriction of processing. When certain conditions apply, the User may request the restriction of the processing of their Data. In this case, the Data Controller will not process the Data for any purpose other than storage.
  • Obtain erasure or removal of their Personal Data. When certain conditions apply, the User may request the erasure of their Data by the Data Controller.
  • Receive their Data or have it transferred to another controller. The User has the right to receive their Data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format and, if technically feasible, to have it transmitted to another controller without hindrance. This provision is applicable when the Data is processed with automated tools and the processing is based on the User’s consent, a contract to which the User is a party, or contractual measures connected to it.
  • Lodge a complaint. The User may file a complaint with the competent data protection authority or take legal action.

    Details on the Right to Object

    When Personal Data is processed in the public interest, in the exercise of official authority vested in the Data Controller, or for the purposes of the Data Controller’s legitimate interests, Users have the right to object to the processing for reasons related to their particular situation.

    Users are informed that if their Data is processed for direct marketing purposes, they may object to such processing at any time without providing any justification. To determine whether the Data Controller processes data for direct marketing purposes, Users can refer to the relevant sections of this document.

How to exercise rights

To exercise their rights, Users may submit a request to the contact details of the Data Controller provided in this document. Requests are filed free of charge and processed by the Data Controller as soon as possible, within one month at the latest.
